Privacy Policy
Last updated October 10, 2026
Sound In Motion is an independent project made by me, Amir Harel, an individual based in Israel. It is not a company. This policy explains what information the Sound In Motion apps and website handle, why, who else is involved, and what you can do about it. It covers Sound In Motion Pro for iPad and Mac, Sound In Motion Lite for iPhone, the website soundinmotionapp.com and the server behind them (together, "Sound In Motion"). "I", "me" and "my" mean Amir Harel; "you" means you.
The short version
- Your projects, videos and recordings stay on your device. I don't upload them, look at them or claim any rights to them. The only exceptions are features you start yourself, explained below.
- You can use the apps without an account. An account (Sign in with Apple) lets you sync soundboards and use one subscription in every app.
- Payments go through Apple. I never see your card or bank details.
- The apps measure which ads and links bring people to the app (AppsFlyer). They only use your device's advertising identifier if you allow tracking when the app asks.
- I don't sell your personal information.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time.
What stays on your device
Projects, imported videos, recordings, mixes and exports are saved on your device, or wherever you choose to save them (for example iCloud Drive or Files). Sound In Motion asks for access to your microphone (to record), your photo library (to import and save videos) and files you pick, and uses them only for what you asked it to do.
Some features send content off your device, only when you use them:
- AI spotting (when available): a small, silent, low-resolution copy of the video goes through my server to Google's Gemini service, which describes the moments that need sound. Short text descriptions of those moments may go to OpenAI or Anthropic to suggest search words. The server keeps the video only in memory while the request runs, Google's copy is deleted straight after, and the results are deleted from my server within an hour.
- Cloud sound search: search words (not your video) are sent to Freesound to find sounds.
- Sharing: when you share or upload a video (for example to YouTube from Lite), it goes to the service you chose, under that service's terms.
- Lessons (testers only): people who test pre-release versions can send their finished scene arrangement (which sounds went where, not the video) to help improve the AI.
What I collect
Account (only if you sign in):
- Your Apple user identifier, the email address Apple gives me (which may be a private relay address) and your name if you choose to share it
- A token from Apple that lets me cancel your Sign in with Apple link when you delete your account
- Sign-in sessions, with the device name and when they were last used
Subscriptions:
- The App Store's signed record of your subscription (product, dates, transaction identifiers), so your subscription can unlock every Sound In Motion app on your account. Apple handles the payment itself.
Soundboards:
- Which soundboards you added to "My soundboards", so the apps can download them.
Notifications (only if you allow them):
- Your device's push token and platform, linked to your account when you are signed in, so I can send announcements and updates. You can turn notifications off in your device settings.
Beta sign-up (website):
- Name, the email of your Apple account (to invite you to TestFlight), devices, interests, your involvement in audio, profession and what you hope to get from Sound In Motion
- Optionally: age, gender and yearly income. These help me understand who the app is for, and you can leave them empty.
- The country your connection comes from, your browser type, and when you agreed to be contacted
AI usage (when you use AI features):
- Which service was used, how much it was used and whether it worked, linked to your account. This keeps costs and abuse under control.
Technical information:
- My servers and network provider process your IP address and basic request details to deliver the service and keep it secure.
Measurement and analytics
AppsFlyer (all apps; App Store and TestFlight versions) tells me which ads, links and campaigns bring people to Sound In Motion, and whether they go on to use it. The apps send AppsFlyer:
- Installs and app opens, with device model, operating system, app version, language, IP address and Apple's identifier for vendors
- Events such as: free trial started, subscription bought (product and price), signed in, subscription screen shown, export finished, project created, video imported and AI spotting finished
- Your account identifier, when you are signed in
- Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you tap "Allow" when the app asks about tracking. You can change this any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
Apple sends ad-attribution reports (SKAdNetwork / AdAttributionKit) to AppsFlyer; these don't identify you.
Sound In Motion Lite also uses Google Firebase (Analytics for app usage, Crashlytics for crash reports, Cloud Messaging for notifications) and Applanga (to deliver the app's translations).
The website uses only the cookies it needs to keep you signed in. It has no advertising or analytics cookies, and it loads no scripts or fonts from other companies.
How I use information
- To run the apps, the website and your account, and to deliver soundboards and subscriptions
- To unlock your subscription in every Sound In Motion app on your account
- To send notifications you allowed, and beta invitations and updates you asked for
- To understand which marketing works and how the apps are used, so I can improve them
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations
If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or a similar jurisdiction, the legal bases are: performing our agreement with you (account, subscriptions, soundboards), your consent (tracking, notifications, the beta form and its optional questions), my legitimate interests (security, fixing problems, improving the apps, measuring marketing without your advertising identifier) and legal obligations. You can withdraw consent at any time; it doesn't affect what happened before.
Who else receives information
I use these service providers, each only for the purpose described:
- Hetzner Online (servers in Finland, EU): hosting the server and database
- Cloudflare: domain name and network delivery
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, push notifications and app distribution
- AppsFlyer: install and campaign measurement
- Google: Gemini (AI spotting, when you use it); Firebase (Lite only)
- OpenAI and Anthropic: AI search suggestions, when you use AI features
- Freesound: cloud sound search
- Applanga: translations in Lite
I don't sell personal information, and I don't share it for anyone else's own marketing. I may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of users, the public or myself.
California residents: sending app activity to AppsFlyer for advertising measurement may count as "sharing" under California law. You can opt out by not allowing tracking when the app asks, or in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
Where information is stored
I am based in Israel, and the server and database are in Finland, in the European Union. Some providers (such as Apple, Google, AppsFlyer, OpenAI and Anthropic) may process information in the United States or other countries. Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on adequacy decisions (the EU recognizes Israel's data protection) or the providers' standard contractual clauses.
How long information is kept
- Account: until you delete it. Deleting your account immediately removes your name, email address and Apple sign-in link, ends all sessions and unlinks your devices. Anonymous records, such as subscription transactions and usage counts, may be kept for accounting and statistics.
- Database backups: kept for 14 days, then overwritten.
- AI spotting results: deleted within an hour. Videos are not stored.
- Beta sign-ups: until the beta program ends, or sooner if you ask.
- Notification tokens: until they stop working or you delete your account.
- AppsFlyer and Firebase keep data under their own retention settings.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account in the app. Pro: Settings › Account › Delete Account. Lite: menu › Delete account.
- Allow or refuse tracking when the app asks, or later in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- Turn notifications off in your device settings.
- Ask me for a copy of your information, or to correct, delete or restrict it, or object to how I use it, by emailing [email protected]. I may need to confirm it's you, and I'll answer within 30 days.
- You may also complain to your data protection authority. In Israel that is the Privacy Protection Authority.
Children
Sound In Motion is not directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given me personal information, email me and I will delete it.
Security
Connections to my server are encrypted, session tokens are stored only as secure hashes, and access to the server is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your information, I will tell you as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
When I change this policy, I'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, I'll also tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
